The Mobile Impact on Social Shopping and ECommerce

It is undeniable that social shopping and mobile are two of the largest and fastest growing segments of eCommerce and digital engagement today. It only makes sense that the two would find a way to converge and leverage the strengths of one another. So far we have only seen the tip of the iceberg, but we anxiously anticipate what innovative developments are soon to be at our fingertips.

Their recent study surveyed 1,004 adults, with the majority falling between 35-44 years old with a nearly even split of men to women.

The survey found that 92% of users purchase products online at least once a month and that nearly 75% spend over $500 a year online. These figures indicate a strong rise in eCommerce over the last few years, but where does mobile come into the picture?

While the mobile commerce is still looking to define itself, the idea of purchasing products from a mobile device is becoming less foreign to smartphone users as the mobile web becomes heavily integrated into their everyday lives. In fact, Forrester predicts mobile commerce to grow to $31 Billion by 2016.

Currently consumers most frequently use their mobile devices for product research/reviews as well as interacting with in-store marketing such as QR codes. The overwhelming majority of mobile use relative to shopping in centered on competitive pricing through search and third party applications. Smartphone users love to use their phones to check prices on the go to quickly ensure they are getting the best deal. This could mean good news for your eCommerce store as the mobile industry continues to grow.

When asked about the ways consumers are using their mobile phones for researching products and businesses online, surveyors responded as follows. Roughly one third of consumers use their phones for checking sales & specials, store information (hours, locations, map, etc), product ratings and reviews, and price comparison through Amazon.com. 31% of consumers used their phone to browse online stores looking for products of interest while 24% did so with the intent of purchasing a product.

These figures tell us that currently the majority of mobile devices are being used by consumers to research a product or store rather than to make purchases. However, with 25% of consumers willing to purchase online we can definitely mark a major leap for mobile commerce. As the mobile web continues to develop and more stores expand their mobile presence, eTailers can expect to see a big rise in mobile visitors and sales.

Surveyors were also asked how they use their mobile phones for research while in a brick and mortar store. The results showed that the majority of consumers are using phones to access promotions, compare prices, read reviews, and interact with in-store marketing such as QR codes. This indicated the growing importance of social engagement on your website through customer reviews and interactive marketing.

Today’s shoppers are smarter than ever. They are knowledgeable about the products they want to buy and have the resources to ensure they get the best deal and the best service. In order to win the sale and the customer your business must be an integrated part of their online experience from start to finish. Social engagement has never been so important to eCommerce success, and the future shows no sign of that slowing down.

Ensure that your businesses is doing everything it can to connect with users by expanding your web presence, incorporating reviews into your site, leveraging promotions, and increasing social engagement through mobile and social selling on Facebook. It is important for consumers to see your products/services and from a variety of channels and to connect with them through reviews before they are fully comfortable making a purchase. This is where the value in a social and mobile presence for your business lies.

What You Need To Know For Successful Internet Marketing

If you are in the dark about successful internet marketing, you are not alone. Many great ideas have fallen by the way side because the owner of the business did not have the information they needed to be successful. Don’t let that happen to you. Start using these practical tips today

Try to do things that focus on bringing a new customer base to your company. If you do not expand the amount of clients that you have, business will not grow and potential profits may be lost. This is the best way to maximize your potential and reach your ceiling as a company.

If you have an internet marketing site, you will want your website to be seen. The best way to accomplish this is to get listed with Google, as it has the most traffic of all the search engines out there. Once you are indexed there, your site traffic will increase and your business will, as well.

Make sure that the colors you use on your site do not make it hard for users to find navigation links. If your site is in black but your navigation links are in royal blue users may not see them and that would mean less time they will spend on your site.

We have been taught from a young age to respect authority, so use this training to your advantage in your promotional materials. Sign off on materials using your company title. If you are just starting out, if you’re leading the way, you can still be the president or CEO. Remember to take credit for material you produce, too.

Streamline your website so it loads quickly and viewers can jump right to the section they want, through links or buttons. Make the links and buttons obvious, so no one has to waste time searching for them and keep the same general layout and style from page to page. Set up the site for easy navigation between pages, so viewers do not get frustrated and wander off to another site.

To promote your business with internet marketing send out a press release. This may sound like an old fashioned approach, but press releases are still effective online. You can set up a mailing list for your website to ensure that those interested will get relevant notifications. Search for bloggers with similar interests who will be interested to know about your business and might help spread Internet word of mouth.

Be basic and specific. Remember your visitor base includes a wide array of people, with different amounts of knowledge of your products. Use laymen’s terms to describe things, but also include the individual specifications for those more advanced. Catering to all of your readers will likely increase sales from all sides of the spectrum.

Closed captions are one of the best tools that you can use on your website. This will allow your company to appeal to all potential customers who have hearing problems and will show that you are a universal brand. Take this into consideration if you want to expand your customer base.

Know what tools are best for you and your business. There are several tools out there to help with internet marketing, but that doesn’t mean they are all going to work for you or your business. You want to make sure that you are only using those that are going to generate real results so you aren’t wasting your time in fruitless ventures.

An easy-to-use, efficient ordering system can attract and retain more customers. Your marketing should highlight how quick and intuitive your checkout feature is; it should also include specific directions to guide the user through the ordering process, regardless of whether your product is purchased online or must be picked up in-store.

You should always hire other people to do all of the small work for you so that you have time to focus on the larger things. Reading and responding to emails, fielding questions, and requesting proposals are all things that you can get someone else to do instead of trying to do them yourself.

Take a critical look at your website and if you can’t hire someone else to review it for you. We all think our creations are beautiful, but sometimes we can’t see what everyone else sees. Do not consider your site a stagnant thing, it should always be changing and improving.

one of the best internet marketing ideas is to start a ‘buy the most wins’ contest. You can make this a weekly, monthly, or yearly contest and it is a great way to motivate customers to not only buy your products, but to keep buying them time and time again.

A great internet marketing tip is to turn some of your advertising banners into questions that your customers would be interested in answering. Pose a trivia question or something and tell your visitors they might win a prize if they answer the questions correctly. This provides extra incentive to click on your ads.

To attract a wider customer base, give your customers a choice of paying either the retail or a wholesale price that you figure out in advance. For the wholesale price, you can charge a monthly or yearly fee in addition to the wholesale cost of the products, so that you don’t lose a ton of money.

Make sure that you participate on other online forums and message boards. You can provide answers to people’s questions, ask your own questions, and post your own accurate information. Also include your site link in your signature if it’s allowed in that community. This will attract more traffic to your site and most likely more sales for you.

Now that you are no longer in the dark about internet marketing, it is time to start applying the useful information from the article above. If you believe that your idea is a great one, don’t let it fail because you ignored the practical tips that could make all the difference

Get Your Site on the First Page of Google

If you want to Drive Traffic to your Website or Blog, the #1 question to ask yourself is How to Get on the First Page of Google. This is the your most important problem to solve…if you are not on the first page of Google, chances are high that your site will never be seen or generate any real traffic…

One of the best ways to do this is to leverage Authority Sites such as YouTube, Squidoo, EzineArticles, Buzzle, Articlesbase, & Hub Pages. Authority Sites always win, then backlinks from other sites are the next best thing. Backlinks are like votes, the more the better. Post your content on Authority Sites & link them back to the same article on your site.

Quality & Quantity both count. One page that ranks on Google’s first page equals roughly 1 lead per day.

The goal is to have your article on the first page of Google so people looking for that topic can find it, click it, read it, then opt-in to your site. As long as your site has other good content, it’s likely the person that opted-in will come back for more. When they’re on your site & if they also opt-in to a lead capture page of some type, follow up with an email or phone call.

The types of articles that work best are either product reviews or problem/solution type, because everyone has problems that they want solved. Company reviews also work very well because most people will do research on a company to validate their decision about that company or before working with that company.

You’ll have to do some keyword research if you want to get on the first page of Google, by using Google’s keyword tool, there are other tools, but this is a good start.

You’ll be looking for keywords that rank on Authority Sites, like the ones mentioned above. When using the Google tool, set the Match Type to exact, then type in your phrase, you’re looking for Local Monthly Searches that are greater than 100. When you find one, then put that keyword phrase in a normal Google search window, enclose it in quotes & make sure you are not logged into Google, this will give you a better search result.

You’re looking for Authority Sites, when you find one, write your own article, submit it to Authority Sites…if you also submit your articles to other article sites, those articles should have a link pointing to the article on one of the Authority Sites, which will help your article rank higher. This is not the only strategy for ranking high on Google, but it’s a good start & you’ll have an edge against others competing for the first page of Google.

The strategies and methods for getting ranked high on the search engines can change, this will have an effect on the page ranking for your articles. Also the new Google +1 tool now plays an important role in your search engine ranking.

Your articles should be roughly 500 words. Use the keyword phrase 3-4 times throughout the article, don’t overdue it, otherwise it will not be as effective. When your article is finished, submit it to the applicable Authority Sites and make sure the article has a link back to the same article on your site.

The solution is fairly simple; the version of your article that you submit to the other article directories has links that point to the Authority Sites, the Authority Sites then point to the original article on your website or blog. This strategy creates lots of link-juice to your site, which ultimately helps rank it higher.

What Is All This Duplicate Content Penalty Stuff Anyway?

In this article I am going to teach you about the duplicate content penalty and why it is important to understand the concept if you plan to use article marketing as part of your internet business.

So basically, duplicate content is when an article or blog post or maybe a product description is copied from one place to another. The first indexing of that content will get the ranking, and all the others will be penalized for copying.

Internet marketing relies very heavily on original content. Whether you have an ecommerce site selling softball gloves, or you have a blog that relies on advertising revenue, or your niche is article marketing to drive traffic, you have to be concerned with the duplicate content penalty.

For the first few years of internet marketing a person could just throw up a site of any kind and get visitors and sales. It was new, bright and shiny and people were attracted to it. Then, the shine wore off a bit and marketers had to actually do some marketing to get folks over to their site. They used content, any kind of content to get themselves ranked high on the search engines.

Getting these rankings was fairly simple back then. The name of the game was getting links to your website, using whatever method possible. So many marketers just copied content and placed it on their site or blog or just re-wrote it and published to article directories. This worked although it was against the better practices rules of the search engines.

Well, the search engines always told us not to use duplicate content. They said it just wasn’t fair and they would not count it as link juice for your site, possibly even remove your site from the listings. However, since the search engines didn’t follow their own rules at that time, many marketers chose to ignore them and get the rankings anyway.

Recently the big search engine has re-written its search algorithms and it has implemented those parameters that it always tried to use in the first place. Many marketers got bumped from the first page, some removed entirely. It left many companies scrambling to comply, trying to regain their foot hold on the market.

The moral is that you should create your marketing material with duplicate content penalty in mind. Write an article, place it either on your website or publish it to an article directory, not both. If you feel you need the content both places, then you must re-write it such that it is mostly original in both places.

The Newcomer’s Guide To Efficient Internet Marketing

If you want to make a few extra bucks then maybe internet marketing is for you. When it comes to internet marketing a lot of people find interest in it but few actually try it out, lack of knowledge is usually why. If you want to get started then use the tips in this article to serve as a starting point in expanding your knowledge about internet marketing.

Make sure you keep a close eye on what advertising campaigns are making you money and which ones are not. It is a waste of money to continue to pour money into multiple campaigns when the reality is that some of them are not bringing you any results at all.

People like to belong to groups with others who have similar interests. If you make an online community for your visitors to communicate with each other, they will regularly return. Make a discussion board or a chat room for them to make contacts and communicate with others who have similar interests.

If you are creating an email list to market your online product or business, make sure to use consistent branding. Your emails should clearly be linked with your company, through the use of color, logos, and writing style. This helps your customers feel that your company has a personal connection with them.

Share your news, knowledge and information through online press releases. This can be a great way to get your name out there and draw people to your site. It also gives you the appearance of being an expert in your chosen area. Incorporate a few hyperlinks or keywords and you might also see an increase in search engine visibility.

To make sure visitors click your banners, don’t use them in excess. A site filled with banners will have a high bounce rate, and visitors who do stay will be reluctant to click. Choose only a few banners and spread them out throughout your site so that they’re not overwhelming. This will give your site a professional look and increase your click thru rate.

When first considering email as part of your internet marketing mix, take the time to dissect the opportunity. Who is your target audience you are trying to reach by email? What types of products or services has this target audience purchased before? What type of email content would be the most persuasive to this audience? And most importantly, how do you measure whether the strategy was successful?

Trying to market online? Do not force potential customers to register on your website. Often, sites with the ‘option to sign in’ as a ‘guest’ – keeps new visitors longer. This will remove any pressure to buy for those that may just want to explore your services.

Consider channels such as e-mail when developing your Internet marketing strategy. Many businesses put all of their marketing efforts into online advertisements or site changes while ignoring the benefits of e-mail. Often, if a customer registers to receive e-mail communications, they want more information. Leverage your e-mail address book to increase the exposure of your business.

Find sites that offer free classified ads, and place one. More exposure means more people going to your site, which means more potential buyers. Be sure to address benefits of your products or services. Proofread the ad, and make sure that your URL address is listed. Free ads are a great way to get noticed.

One of the easiest ways of marketing on the internet is sending e-mails. Nowadays, there are several software packages available that are capable of harvesting e-mail addresses from websites. You can also buy e-mail databases of people or companies most likely to be interested in your product or services. Only use the e-mail addresses of those who agreed to be marketed via e-mail.

If you have the funds, consider hiring a well known or famous person to give their seal of approval to your business. If you have television advertising, you can use them in your ad spots. Otherwise, a picture and an endorsement are a great way to make a connection with a well known person in your internet advertising.

Check what websites link to your competitors to find out which links are best for you to pursue. External links leading to your site are weighted based on how popular the linking site is. Identify the most popular sites linking to your competitors and see if you can secure links from them for your own site.

Set an amount you are willing to spend, and stick to it. Marketing can cost lots of money, but if you do it right, you will bring in more than you spend. Do not be too stingy with your spending, but do not be frivolous either. Keep your goals in mind.

Sometimes, it is very difficult for a new customer to understand some of the terms on your site. Therefore, it is important for you to include a glossary of a terms page, dedicated to explaining the difficult words or phrases. This will aid in improving your customer’s overall experience on your website.

Pull in emails to create a list of prospects that you can communicate with directly through newsletters and other email campaigns. If you are funneling sales prospects to the vendor page you are losing the opportunity to build a relationship with them. The buyers are more likely to come back to you if they are receiving information from you that helps them know why they should by the product.

Having acquired a reasonable amount of information on ways to be successful when it comes to internet marketing you’re going to want to start applying the knowledge you learned. The only way to be successful in this subject is if you actually try, it’s the only way you’ll make progress.

Three Huge Benefits Of Business Owners Getting On Wikipedia

Wikipedia is probably one of the most popular sites on the Internet today. It is considered an authority site on almost any topic that people search for. That is the reason Wikipedia gets listed on the first pages of search engines for most of the search terms.

Business owners can derive a lot of benefits from getting their company or their products and services listed on the pages of Wikipedia. This online encyclopedia gets visited by millions of people from all around the world. Therefore, it can serve as one of the best sources of traffic when a backlink is embedded to one’s website on any of its pages.

Here are three huge benefits of business owners getting their sites linked to Wikipedia:

Benefit #1 – Traffic

Even if a tiny fraction of the visitors flocking to this mega portal land on their business site, it can result in a huge number of hits. Including a link on Wikipedia is therefore an excellent business strategy to get more exposure, more traffic and hopefully more business.

Benefit #2 – Weightage

The backlinks from Wikipedia are “no follow” links which means that search engines do not add it to a site’s backlink total. However, even though it is a “no follow” link, it still carries weight since the link originates from an authority site.

Benefit #3 – Cost

Another great advantage of using Wikipedia for business promotion is that the process is completely free of cost. While it can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars to place a small ad in the search results pages of most search engines, it costs virtually nothing to place a link back to one’s website from Wikipedia.

However, adding a backlink to one’s site in Wikipedia is not as straightforward and simple as it sounds. Since the site strives to maintain its authority status, it is very strict on the type of information it allows on its pages. It quite often removes from its pages, links to websites that are not of good quality or are irrelevant to the pages on which the links are found.

Moreover, since Wikipedia can be edited by virtually anyone who has access to the Internet, it is also possible for them to remove the embedded links. Sometimes, a company’s competitors can indulge in such unethical activities too. Business owners would then have to constantly monitor the presence of their links and add them back again if someone deletes them. Despite these few shortcomings, the value of getting backlinks from Wikipedia is truly enormous.

The Right Steps To Choosing The Right Political Advertising Agency

Behind every effective political campaign is an amazing political advertising agency. There are a few steps to follow to ensure you chose the best advertising agency. Using the internet as tool, you will have many options available to you. When choosing a company, keep in mind that the companies you search for are also experts in internet marketing and social networking, as well as traditional marketing.

To begin, do some research and compile a list of the top ten agencies you are interested in. Dig deeper into this list of agencies and find out what kinds of services they offer. Another great way to research is through “word of mouth.” This tactic helps you get a feeling of the agencies by asking around. You will be able to see who others have used in the past and get their opinion of their experience.

Doing this little bit of research will help you to narrow down your list. Aim to have at least five or six agencies, after narrowing down.

After you have done a little beginning research, you want to go back online and search each agency. Make it your goal to find out if they had any success in political advertising in the past. Check to see what the reviews are, but remember that everyone and anyone can write anything and post it on the internet. Make sure the information you are viewing is from a credible and reliable source. After doing more of this research, try to narrow it down to two agencies.

After you have chosen the final two agencies, call and make an appointment to meet with them and their team. A good tip, before you actually sit down and meet with them, make a list of questions you have. Once you are in the meeting it could be easy to lose your thoughts and not get all of your questions answered. Creating a list of questions beforehand will allow you to make sure you choose the company that will meet your needs.

Choose the agency that is as excited about you. If they are excited and are knowledge in political advertising they will be able to market you better. Keep in mind that they need to have great success in internet marketing as well. In this day in age it is extremely important that they are able to tap into this market as well. Traditional marketing will only get you so far. Services like pay per click campaigns and search engine optimization are important. They can help make your your commercials/ads and speeches go viral through services like youtube. Having a team that can not only shoot your commercials/ads and speeches is great!

Once you are in your meeting pay attention to their reactions and their answers to your questions. This will help you determine on whether the agency is a right fit for you and your campaign. Once you are done with your meeting, the agency should then put together a proposal and send it to you.

Compare each agency’s services with each of their prices. There may be a situation where one agency may have a lower price tag, but they might not be able to offer the same level of service that the other company can.

Finally, after careful review and comparison you have just found the perfect political advertising agency that fits you and your needs.

Pros and Cons Of Outsourcing Online and What To NOT Outsource

As a webmaster, you should be viewing your website as an online business if you ever hope to make any money from it whether that’s from affiliate marketing, advertising revenue, etc. Developing your online business involves regular and oftentimes daily tasks of SEO, link building, perhaps maintaining a PPC/paid advertising campaign and your email list as a few examples.

Eventually you may find that you simply don’t have time for many of these daily routines, especially if you’re managing multiple websites. A lot of webmasters regularly outsource a number of the above mentioned tasks; so let’s consider the pros and cons of outsourcing if you’re thinking about it for yourself and your business along with what you should NOT be outsourcing no matter how much time it saves.

Pros

Obviously it’s a time saver. It saves you from concerning yourself with mundane and time consuming trivial grunt work tasks so that you can focus on the things which really matter such as creating content and other things which affect people’s direct perception of you.

Cons

You’re giving up control, meaning you’ve got someone else out there representing you in whatever it is that they’re doing for you. This makes you potentially responsible for someone else’s potential mistakes.
It cuts into your revenue stream; though you can make a case against this if you work out your time versus money value ratio.

Things to NOT Outsource

Email Marketing – A lot of work goes into developing an email list. You can learn the fastest way to successfully develop your list among other things by immediately downloading my free Complete Email Marketing Blueprint. Whenever you send out an email, you’re developing a relationship with that person as they grow accustomed to a number of things about you which includes your own unique voice. You want to treat your subscribers with the utmost precision care, so outsourcing this aspect of your business is not something I recommend.

PPC – Any instance in which you’re spending your own actual money to make something happen (excluding outsourcing itself) is a case in which I wouldn’t trust someone else to take the reins. PPC is a prime example of this, so unless you’re hiring out to a professional PPC person who knows what they’re doing and who will pay attention to your PPC campaign frequently, I wouldn’t recommend outsourcing this aspect as a PPC campaign in unsure hands can end up costing you a lot of money.

Your Site’s Content – One thing which I would also never outsource (save for possibly in the form of guest blogging) is the actual content on my site. This includes doing keyword research, as well. While it’s time consuming creating new content for my sites on a regular basis, this is what people most identify with me, so I want to make sure it’s written by me.

Press Releases – In a similar vein, I recommend writing your own press releases unless you’re on the level where a professional PR company is doing it for you. You should be choosing the words which you want to describe your site which people will read; don’t leave this in the hands of someone who is any less familiar with your business than you are.

Things TO Outsource

Article Marketing – Article marketing is one thing which you can generally feel safe outsourcing. This can simply entail someone reposting your content on article directories or writing fresh content for you. If you have someone knowledgeable in your niche and whom you like the writing style of, outsourcing is appropriate here so you can create lots of articles to distribute across the net.

Social Networking – Posting your content on social networks is pretty simple to do. Actually it can be outsourced to an automated program, so you’re likely fine with relying on technology rather than a person; so whether you’re trying to build your Twitter following.

Support – If you have a product which you are selling yourself then outsourcing support for that product is a MAJOR time saver. Only do this with people who are fully familiarized with your product so they can deliver the highest level of quality support to your customers.

Blog/Forum Commenting – While people become accustomed to your voice on blogs and forums just as they do in email marketing, the stakes aren’t nearly as high. Blog and forum commenting can be great sources of traffic and link juice when used correctly, so assuming the person you outsource to has an understanding of what you’re doing on your site then this can save you a lot of time while building up your reputation at influential blogs and forums in your niche.

Technical Things – Anything technical or related to web design is a fine thing to outsource especially if you’re not especially knowledgeable about these things yourself.

And one last point – Make sure your system is working perfectly before you start to outsource. You want to know that what you’re instructing your contractor to do exactly works to a “t”, so assuming they stick to your specific instructions there won’t be any issues.
